WheatStalk 2022 – providing agronomic solutions for innovative farmers

Megan Evans, Events Manager | Alberta Wheat and Barley Commissions

The 2022 WheatStalk tour will provide farmers with tips and tricks to get the best bang for their buck amid high input and crop prices that have rocked the industry over the last year.

Farmers are encouraged to attend WheatStalk at Lethbridge, Alberta, on June 28, 2022, or St. Albert, Alberta, on August 4, 2022, and take in timely, agronomic solutions from industry-leading experts on topics such as effective grain drying management and hedging through winter wheat acreage.

Both event locations will offer fun in the sun (weather permitting) and curated presentations from guest speakers including Drs. Chandra Singh, Dean Spaner, Brian Beres and the wizard of winter wheat – Robert Graf; to name a few. The commissions’ agronomy research extension specialist Jeremy Boychyn and agronomy research specialist Sheri Strydhorst will speak on 4R nutrient stewardship and advanced variety management.

Visit albertawheatbarley.com/events for full event details and to register. Pre-registration is required to attend. Be one of the first 25 to register for each date and receive a complimentary pair of wheat socks.

The commissions look forward to seeing farmers and industry at WheatStalk this summer! Register today to gain valuable agronomic information through outdoor presentations with agronomy experts.

Tell your neighbours that WheatStalk is back again this summer and better than ever!

A special presentation to Dr. Robert Graf will be held during lunch at WheatStalk on June 28, 2022, at Lethbridge, Alberta, as his retirement approaches after 35 years of wheat breeding experience. Graf’s efforts and commitment to expanding winter wheat acres are unmatched. Throughout his breeding career, Graf has been a pivotal catalyst in developing western Canadian winter wheat varieties such as Radiant (2001) and Wildfire (2015). The entire agriculture community will miss his enthusiasm and array of Tilley hats worn at field days.
