Mapping Groundwater in Southern Alberta

The Government of Alberta is investing $3.8 million in a three-year study to map groundwater resources in southern Alberta, focusing on the South Saskatchewan River and Milk River basins. This initiative aims to provide detailed insights into groundwater quality, quantity, and location. Given the current limited knowledge of these resources, the study will help inform future water management decisions, enhance drought resiliency and support rural communities that rely on groundwater. Findings are expected to be available by 2027.
