Government of Alberta Launches Grant to Support Class 1 Driver Training

Starting April 1, 2025, the Government of Alberta (GoA) is offering up to $10,000 in funding to help businesses - including farm operations - train new class 1 drivers. To increase the number of drivers available, the GoA created the Employment Pathway Grant which reimburses businesses for costs associated with training and hiring new Class 1 drivers. In addition, employers may qualify for an onboarding incentive of up to $10,000 for hiring new Class 1 drivers with less than two years of experience in a Class 1 driving position.
